A Sweet & Serene Modern Nursery

Today’s room reveal is extra special to me because it was designed for my sister and brother-in-law who will be welcoming a little baby boy later this month! Minimalist & modern was the overall look we were going for with this baby boy’s nursery. They love the look of a black and white nursery but also wanted that softened, cozy, and airy feel.

We started this design off by completely doing away with the white textured ceilings and replacing with a moody shiplap detail. We went with a bold soft black paint for the shiplap to contrast with the creamy white walls and to make the room feel tonal. It’s crazy how something as little as a ceiling detail can really make all the difference in a room!

We installed a beautiful two-tone finish convertible crib and paired the crib with an over sized black heart mobile that adds a touch of modern whimsy to the room. Sweet and playful animal canvas posters hang over the crib. A minimal yet adorable addition to the space!

To avoid having the room feel super intimidating with the black & white color combo, we added a touch of neutrals and soft light blue accents. The neutral details and natural textures added that perfect amount of warmth to the space. We added some cozy textures with the softest ivory shag rug and a faux fur pouf foot rest. A soft light blue was brought in through the bedding and drapery for added pop of color and contrast.

A stylish yet very comfy modern wingback style rocking chair with a natural light toned wooden legs fits perfectly in the corner of the room. We layered on a knit throw and this cute little plush fox toy. Clear acrylic wall shelving was added above the rocking chair to showcase all those adorable baby books.

On the other side of the room, we added a sleek and modern black dresser with brass hardware. We paired the dresser with a removable changing pad and a brass accent lamp for layered lighting. This beautiful round mirror that features a minimalist metal frame and a subtle brass hook hangs just above the dresser. A stylish and effortless look that coordinates well with the modern design aesthetic of the room.

My sister & brother-in-law absolutely love how this little nursery turned out and I’m so happy I was able to play a part in making the room come together for them. Can’t wait for my baby nephew’s arrival in just a few short weeks <3
